Souvenir Hunting in Koh Samui: A Holiday Shopping Guide
Thailand is a shopper’s dream, with glitzy malls populating Bangkok’s streets and infamous night markets open till dawn. Koh Samui is no different. Although comparatively smaller in scale, commemorate your holiday with a guide to souvenir hunting on the island.
The Wharf
Located by the beachfront of Bophut, The Wharf is a stylish open-air market, blending traditional shopping with an upscale, modern flair. A relatively new addition, the space hosts over a hundred stalls and retail units, specialising in boutique-style goods and souvenirs. Don’t forget to stop by the food court to try out some authentic street food, which is one of the best things to do in Samui (or anywhere in Thailand).
Central Samui

For a classic mall experience, Central Samui is the island’s go-to destination. Just down the road from SAii Koh Samui Villas, this shopping complex is the largest on Koh Samui, home to 3 storeys’ worth of shops, restaurants and entertainment. While the larger stores sell high-end, branded goods, there are several spots offering quality souvenirs and handicrafts.
Fisherman’s Village Walking Street
One of Samui’s most iconic market stops, the Fisherman’s Village Walking Street is the heart and soul of Bophut’s nightlife. Held every Friday along a quaint strip, the flea market sells everything from simple jewellery to cheap cameras, paired with the sizzling aromas of street food classics.
Lamai Night Plaza
Emulating the lively shopping scene of the Patong night market, Lamai Night Plaza is a haven for knock-offs, as well as charming handicrafts. Shop for colourful lamps or locally made sarongs to commemorate your time on Koh Samui.
