Seoul always sees a steady incoming of travellers from around the world. It also has much to offer when it comes to shopping. Hongdae, is a shopping venue which derives its name from Hongdik University and the very fact that it is located in close proximity to a large educational institution, guarantees the abundance of shopping and dining venues around the area. Many street food stalls, as well as cafes and other more refined eateries, have been coming up over the years, and the area has transformed into an essential hub that is ideal for student life. Every Saturday in the afternoon there is a free market of sorts which happens here. The market sells many handcrafted goodies and during the late evenings, there are also quite a few street acts that are performed for the entertainment of shoppers and diners in the area.

Edae, also known as Ewha Woman’s University Fashion Street, is yet another place where mostly youngsters hang out. The merchandise for sale here is much cheaper than usual, as it has been made to suit the wallets of students who are the majority of visitors and residents in the area. There is a wealth of yummy edibles, fashion accessories, apparel and makeup items for bargain prices. Another place where you could shop is Dongdaemun, which is singular in its own way. This shopping area never sleeps as many of the boutiques stay open as late (or as early) as five in the morning. The bulk sale area opens at eight in the morning and shuts down for the day around four in the evening. The only rule here is that you must buy three items or more, and this stringent rule is adhered to at all costs. The place also requires for you to do a bit of negotiating, so be prepared to do so.

If you are travelling to Seoul in addition to the eateries and entertainment venues there is also many a serviced apartment in Seoul such as Somerset Palace Seoul where you could take up convenient lodging close to all your favourite attractions and shopping areas.
