The streets of Krabi take on the guise of a food carnival at night; there is hardly a local dish that is not available on the way side in Krabi and it could even extend to cater to foreign taste buds. With the winds of Phangnga Bay twirling into the country along the Krabi River, the west coast of Southern Thailand is famous for more reasons than one but no one deems it fit to return home without visiting one of the two night markets; Chao Fah or Krabi Walking Street Market.

The merchants stand by their open stalls which have a small hood, an umbrella or sometimes even nothing at all to protect them from possible rain. They engage in the preparation of food while marketing their goods to passersby. A spot of frying, tossing about in a pan and heating up and the aroma divulges how delectable the food can be. Kebabs, frankfurters, baked shrimps and poached chicken for the meat eaters, fresh guava spiced with chillie powder, sugar and salt for all ages, pita pockets and tom yam soup for the conservative consumers and fresh vegetables to take home, can be found as you walk on. The roads are quite well lit and one can find some tables and chairs kept on the middle of the road to accommodate the weary limbs of the shoppers who stop there to catch their breath and drink a glass of water.

In addition to a plethora of food items there are also flip slops, purses and bags, soft toys, stuffed doll key chains, batiks, handicrafts, t- shirts and carved soap, all of which make perfect souvenirs and gifts for those at home in a multitude of alluring colours are available at reasonable prices.

The Krabi resorts are a perfect holiday getaway as the environment itself is relatively laid back and the beaches are excellent. Amongst all the famed hotels is the Anantara Si Kao Thailand which has maintained a clear and unblemished record for its proven hospitality and level of comforts over the years emerging as an exceptional Trang resort.
