The city of Nizwa was known as the capital of Oman during the 6th and 7th centuries. Located in the centre of Oman, easily reachable from any Nizwa hotel, a drive of just over an hour from Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, it is now a highly popular tourist attraction due to its structure. There are buildings that date back to the 17th century, and the Nizwa Fort is quite popular as an attraction. However, the silver and copper crafts are found in the souq that operates within its premises, where locals and tourists alike come for their high-quality crafts.

If you are coming here with the intention of exploring the city, you must remember that it is not small. There are paved paths leading to each and every village within Nizwa, but you can as easily take a taxi or the bus. There are official tours organised for the purpose of imparting knowledge about this old city, where you will be taken to see natural attractions like waterfalls as well as man-made attractions like the Fort. The weather can be chilly between November and March, so dress appropriately if your visit falls within this period of time. It is a great place for the entire family as there are parks and recreational grounds where children can play. There are also well-maintained gardens and stone crafts adoring them that showcase the level of architecture that was in operation hundreds of years ago. There is something about the city of Nizwa that will be calling you to visit time and time again. When coupled with the friendly faces that will greet you wherever you go, and the helpful nature of Omanis, it is but little wonder that Nizwa city has more than silver and copper crafts on offer for the visitor.
