A colonial building that dates back to the days of the British, Racecourse Colombo (so named because it was originally part of a harness racing course) is today a laidback shopping precinct well worth visiting.

Where Can It Be Found

Racecourse Colombo is easy to find; it is located on Reid Avenue in Colombo 7 near Royal College and within a 15 minute drive from up and coming apartments for sale in Sri Lanka including the likes of TRI-ZEN. It is also close to Independence Square which is one of the area’s key landmarks.

Time For Shopping

Those planning to shop for a new wardrobe can head to Planet Fashion where you will not only find local brands, but those like Van Heusen, Peter England and Louis Philippe too. The Origins here store is a great place to buy brands such as Nike, Reebok and Puma. The Laksala outlet offers unique souvenirs, while Abans Elite Racecourse showcases the latest in electronics.

Dining

Those craving fast food can head to McDonald’s or KFC at Racecourse Colombo. Tea Breeze offers a relaxed space for drinks and yummy food, while Ramen Misoya Colombo, Beehive by RnR’ and Tsing Tao with its Chinese menu offer more refined dining options.

Rest & Recreation

The weekend Good Market held here is a great place to visit with the family and offers stalls which focus on sustainable and ethically sourced products and produce. There’s plenty of space and shady areas for quiet strolls, while depending on when you visit you can even take in a game of rugby at the adjoining field.
